Our Foundation

Our Focus

Project Self-Sufficiency is focused on bettering and giving a hand up to economically disadvantaged families and individuals as we provide help, hope, and understanding in their struggle:

-
To responsibly provide short-term financial assistance to individuals and families in crisis.
-
To lessen the burden of state and federal agencies charged with the care of the truly indigent by doing everything in our power to stop these at-risk households from slipping further into poverty, despite the burden poised by an unanticipated emergency expense.
-
To promote compassion and generosity on the part of individual person living in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area that we serve by standing as a living testament to the power of human kindness to change lives, no matter how much or how little a person must share.
-
Help families address and overcome the social and economic barriers that keep them from attaining self-sufficiency.
-
Support and encourage the transition from government assistance to being financially independent.
-
As a matter of policy, we do not ever give cash directly to the persons applying for help; rather, we assist the person who has requested our help by remitting payment directly to the vendor or creditor named in the applicants’ documentation.
-
We never charge a fee to our applicants, and the assistance we provide comes with absolutely no strings attached and never has to be repaid.
