Our Mission

It is our mission to aid families and individuals experiencing extreme hardship. To provide a framework and services that leads these families and individuals into economic self-sufficiency. Empower, encourage, and equip economically disadvantaged families and individuals to obtain and develop essential life skills, self-confidence and emotional support which ultimately allow them to become self-sufficient. 

Financial Assistance

We offer them tools to improve their circumstances by valuing and building upon strengths and skills. Our aim is to reduce the number of families receiving governmental, local and state assistance. Helping those in need and continuing our dedication to economically disadvantaged individuals and families in Charlotte, North Carolina and Mecklenburg County. We consistently offer a helping hand and a hand up to those requiring assistance during difficult times. Our programming supports the entire family unit. We provide the resources or information needed to realize their power and potential. We aim to:

  • Optimize the delivery of direct human services

  • Boost collaboration between agencies, partners and community

  • Provide leadership, advocacy, planning and delivery of services

  • Provide services with respect, compassion

  • Show dedication, accountability and preservation core family values

  • Maximize resources and reduce duplication

  • Prevention of homelessness

  • Offer the tools to improve their circumstances while building upon their strengths and skills

  • Assist in making long-term achievable goals for future progress

  • To lead, sponsor and support efforts to better our communities

Community Resources

We continue ongoing efforts to understand how the Nix-Sullivan Complex for Family can maintain the quality and integrity of our services under project Self-Sufficiency within our finite financial resources of our grants and the community of donors and supporters we currently have. We provide support services that identify resources needed to formulate plans and address immediate needs to help in emergency situations and achieve short term solution and develop long term goals. Assessments are a continuing process but always with the individual or family at the center of the process.

  • Offer time-limited resource assistance

  • Job find services to eligible families working towards self-sufficiency

  • A Self-Sufficiency contract (review of work history, education and interests)

  • All families benefit from information, referrals, guidance and connecting to resources as they meet the challenges of parenthood and family life.
